Your Mail Project keeps things simple, thoughtful, and transparent.

here’showthisworks.md

Here’s how this works.

Step 1. Press the ‘Join Us’ button and fill the form inside so we can use your postal address along with your name, phone number, and pin code to send you 11 blank postcards to illustrate upon.

Note: Please bear in mind that your name will be mentioned publicly on the community page of this website.

Step 2. After you receive these 11 postcards, illustrate 10 postcards anyhow you fancy by hand and use 1 postcard to test your art materials.

Step 3. Share work-in-progress images to your Instagram stories and tag our Instagram account @yourmailproject, or make an Instagram post and use hashtag #yourmailproject.

Step 4. Mail your handmade illustrated postcards to us as soon as possible via speed post along with your Illustrator’s Price (IP) for each.

Step 5. Albeit the original illustrator reserves all copyrights, after we receive an illustrator’s submission we use Your Mail Project brand assets to curate the project thenceforth.

Step 6. Every handmade illustrated postcard is an exclusive product that will never be replicated in analog format and can be sent to friends and family via India Post with/without an accompanying message.

Step 7. Once a sale happens, we pay the illustrator his/her Illustrator’s Price (IP).

Step 8. Every handmade illustrated postcard is available for sale without the guarantee that it will sell.

  • A payout to an illustrator is due only after his/her handmade illustrated postcard is sold.
  • An unsold handmade illustrated postcard shall be returned to the original illustrator if he/she demands.

Step 9. We handle complaints, inventory, operations, packaging, shipping, suggestions, and more.
We do not accept returns orders.

Here’s our business model.

We run Your Mail Project to create revenue for various illustrators. We are sharing the following information to demystify our business model.

The package of 11 blank postcards costs,
= Rs. (05.50 for the blank postcards + 05.00 for the envelope + 41.50 for speed post)
= Rs. (05.50 + 05.00 + 41.50)
= Rs. 52.00.
= Cost A (CA).

Shipping 10 handmade illustrated postcards to our address should approximately cost,
= Rs. (05.00 for the envelope + 41.50 for speed post)
= Rs. (05.00 + 41.50)
= Rs. 46.50.
= Cost B (CB).

Making 1 handmade illustrated postcard shop-ready should approximately cost,
= Rs. (CA + CB) / 10 blank postcards in the package
= Rs. [(52.00 + 46.50) / 10]
= Rs. [98.50 / 10]
= Rs. 09.85.
= Cost Price (CP).

Illustrators have to use their own materials to create the illustrations. We cannot be sure of certain values (including but not limited to) the cost of labour, cost of materials, expected profit, PLUS any particulars deemed necessary.

Hence, we request all illustrators.

  • To calculate their Illustrator’s Price (IP) for every blank postcard they illustrate.
  • To send us a note alongwith their handmade illustrated postcards to inform us about their Illustrator’s Price (IP).

By multiplying the Illustrator’s Price (IP) by 2,
we calculate the Selling Price (SP),
= Rs. (IP x 2)
.

With the first half of the Selling Price (SP),
we pay the Illustrator’s Price (IP),
= Rs. (SP / 2)
.

With the second half of the Selling Price (SP),
we pay for Cost Price (CP) and Your Mail Project’s Profit (YMPP),
= Rs. [(SP / 2) - CP]
.

Example.

If Illustrator’s Price (IP) = Rs. 100.00;

Selling Price (SP),
= Rs. (IP x 2)
= Rs. (100.00 x 2)
= Rs. 200.00.

Your Mail Project’s Profit (YMPP),
= Rs. [(SP / 2) - CP]
= Rs. [(200.00 / 2) - 09.85]
= Rs. [100.00 - 09.85]
= Rs. 90.15.

Here’s how we pay an illustrator for subscriptions.

We offer a monthly subscription basis starting from Rs. 300 per handmade illustrated postcard,
= Subscription Price (SP).

We pay an illustrator the first half of the Subscription Price (SP),
= Rs. (SP / 2)
= Rs. (300.00 / 2)
= Rs. 150.00.
= Illustrator’s Earnings (IE).

We pay Your Mail Project the second half of the Subscription Price (SP),
= Rs. (SP / 2)
= Rs. (300.00 / 2)
= Rs. 150.00.

Your Mail Project bears the value of the Cost Price (CP),
= Rs. (150.00 - CP)
= Rs. (150.00 - 09.85)
= Rs. 140.15.
= Your Mail Project’s Earnings (YE).

= Rs. [10.85 - 09.85]
= Rs. 01.00.

Your Mail Project

Can architecture be used to curb longstanding communal/religious tension?

These projects illustrate the phenomena of ‘the programming of human behavior using architecture’.

On the basis of: What - How - Why - Where - When - Problem Set - Site/Prototype - Site Study - Concept - User Behaviors - Design - Conclusions. They are an attempt to illustrate certain observed notions between human emotions and the spaces we inhibit, mostly through the practice of creating architectural spaces by Kushal Samant.

Urban insert design.
